When you think of the word “worship” what do you think of?

Maybe you think of going to church, singing praise songs, or praying. These are all things we do at a certain place or time, but what does the Bible say our worship should be like?

Hebrews 13:15-16

“Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually give a sacrifice of praise-the fruit of the lips that confess His name. And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”

The Bible says in the verses above that our worship should be continuous. Our worship should not be confined to the barriers we’ve set. Our worship shouldn’t be confined to four walls of a certain song we sing. We must worship God with more than just our lips, our lives should reflect His love.

Matthew 15:8-9

“This people follows me with their lips, but their heart is far from me; in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men”

Jesus stresses heart authenticity.

Ultimately, God sees our hearts. In order for our worship to be continuous, our hearts need to be set on Christ at all times. When our hearts aren’t right, we fall into this pattern of just “going through the motions”and our worship loses meaning.

Set your heart on Christ and honor Him in all you do. In that, you will be worshiping Him in the way He wants to be worshiped.

We challenge you this week to memorize Hebrews 13:15-16 and remember every day to honor Him in all you do!
