A few weeks ago I went on vacation to visit my family in Ohio and got to meet up with an old friend of mine!
I was scrolling through Instagram before this trip, of course, and saw a few outfits that Gillian had posted on her feed, I immediately wanted to do a shoot with her and this trip was a great opportunity to get some cute shots and catch up with each other!
So, without further ado, here is a little taste Gillian’s personal style!
Q: How would you describe your personal style?
A: I would describe my personal style as vintage/retro. It depends on my mood, but most of the time, my style is based off some decade (1940s-1990s).
I love that Gillian took this lightweight outfit and paired it with a chunkier shoe! This is also a great example of how to stay within the same color family without being too matchy-matchy.
Q: Where do you get most of your style inspiration?
A: I draw most of my style inspiration from the 1980s. I’m a huge fan of high waisted mom jeans and a vintage graphic tee shirt or a crazy colorful, shoulder-padded sweater!
Here, she just layered a solid t-shirt over a sundress and knotted it to give her waist a little definition; great style hack! She also added interest to the outfit by pairing it with bubblegum pink Converse!
Q: If you could go back to any era (for style reasons), which would you choose and why?
A: If I could go back to any era I would have to pick the 1940s. I go to a D-Day re-enactment every year, and I absolutely love dressing up for it. I love the dresses and the style/cut of them. I’m also a fan of the classic makeup look (cat eyes and red lips) from that period.
This is a great idea for a transition outfit! Pair your favorite romper with some booties and voila, you’re ready for fall! You can also go a step further and add a pair of tights or a scarf for extra warmth!
Q: What outfit combo do you feel most confident in?
A: I feel the most confident in a pair of high-waisted jeans, a graphic tee, and a pair of Converse. It’s comfortable, simple, and classic!
