I’ve recently jumped back on the podcast bandwagon and one that I seem to relate to the most is Sadie Robertson-Huff’s podcast named “Woah That’s Good.” On one of the latest episodes, Sadie had Alex Seeley, writer of the book Tailormade, as a guest and the title of that episode was “Purpose In Mind.”
In this episode of her podcast, they covered a lot of ground so I definitely recommend that you give it a listen! A lot of the things they covered are things that I know many young women are currently facing in their everyday lives.
It’s around that time when school starts back up again, whether you’re in high school or college, many of you may be struggling this overarching theme of “What am I going to do with the rest of my life, what’s my purpose, where do I even find out what that purpose is?” I know I did and when I lose sight of what God has called me to, I sometimes still feel this worry rise in me.
Know this.
God has a plan for you. He has a plan that is far more exhilarating and fulfilling than you could ever imagine. But… You must first understand who you are in Him.
Did you know that you were formed before the foundations of the world? Before God created the world we live in today, He knew each and every one of us. He knows the timeline of our lives and that we were born for such a time as this. He knew the desires and passions of our hearts before we were formed in our mother’s womb.
He knows you intimately; you are His Daughter.
You have searched me, Lord,
and you know me.
Psalm 139:1
He says that you are more precious than rubies, that you are fearfully and wonderfully made, that you are His prized possession, you are made worthy through Him.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
Psalm 139:14
Do you believe what He says of you?
When you don’t understand your purpose in Christ, when you haven’t been in His Word, you tend to let everything the world says about you, define you.
You are not your mistakes, you are not unworthy of love, you are not your past self, when you are made new in Christ, He washes all of that clean. His mercies are new every morning and He has made you with purpose in mind.
I encourage you to read through Psalm 139.
Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
Psalm 139:23
When you find your passion, the things that the Lord has set on your heart to bring joy to your soul, take them and run with them!
Have confidence in the dreams that the Lord has placed inside you! Although they might look different than everyone else’s, know that you were made to be in this world but not of it! Use the gifts and talents the Lord has placed in you to be a light in this dark world and speak to those passions! Don’t keep them inside, it would be selfish to refrain from using the gifts you’ve been given because of fear!
Be aware…
The enemy wants to keep you small and quiet. He wants you to think of yourself as less than and that you could never accomplish those dreams the Lord has given you. The enemy wants to plant seeds of doubt and self-deprecating thoughts in your head. DO NOT LISTEN!
Wage the war in your heart with the Word of the Lord! When in doubt, take a moment to read through these verses, don’t just read over them quickly, but read them earnestly and intentionally. Take a moment to pray over these verses and allow the Lord to speak to you through them.
