Over the past couple weeks, my church went through a series on being a “GAME CHANGER.”
This series really helped me see some things I was going through in a different light, from what it means to be a game changer to why we are game changers.
I have definitely had GAME CHANGERS in my life and I’m sure you’ve had at least one in yours too.
Take a moment to think about it… Who or what situation has changed the game in your life?
As most of you might know, Sunday was Mother’s Day.
I know my mother has definitely been a game changer in my life.
She has always been there for me and I wouldn’t be the person I am today without her. Through thick and thin she has always had my back. She is always there to dry my tears or create happy ones. Every joke and moment of laughter we’ve shared mean so much to me. To think of all that she has given me and what she has given up for me is crazy; to know that she loves me brings great joy to my heart! My mom has also taught me the meaning of grace. There have been times that she has responded in such a graceful way, even when I didn’t deserve it.
Here are some thoughts from the Crowned Crew about how their mothers have impacted their lives:
“My mom has supported me through my career and has sacrificed endless hours to drive me to castings and jobs throughout Miami. She always made sure I was on time and balancing everything in my life.”
“My mother did not just give me life, but contributes to sustain it. Without her, I would not be here today. She sacrifices every ounce of effort and moment in her life to us, children. She gives all of herself to everyone around her. She has been the example I can watch, of what love truly is, to me!”
Now, maybe you have someone like this in your life. Someone who loves you unconditionally even through all of the things you may have done. Someone who gives up their time to make sure that you get what you need and are alright.
Today we should be grateful for the people like this in our lives. We should recognize what they have given to us or maybe even given up for us. Recognize that they work for us to have the things we enjoy. We should take the time to remember that they love us so much even though they might reprimand or restrict us from certain things. Just know that they do it out of love and because they know what’s best for you! Chances are they have been impacted in some way by the things that they keep you from. Show them respect because they love you enough to keep you away from things that may harm you.
Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.
They are a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck.
Maybe you feel as if you don’t have someone like this in your life… I can assure you that you do, even though you might not see it now. His name is Jesus. He loves you so much that he died in your place on the cross. (Read more about God’s love here).
I challenge you to write down the people that have been GAME CHANGERS in your life and thank God for giving them to you! What are some things about those people you are most grateful for? Make a list of those things and be sure to let them know!
