In our first blog post, we made sure to let you know that God has a Purpose for you.

Now, let me explain that finding your purpose and hearing God’s call for your life could be like trying to find a needle in a haystack. It might take weeks or even years to hear your call. The only way to find the “needle” in the first place, whether it be challenging or not, would be to fix your eyes on God. That being said, you may need to let go of what you want to see happen. Maybe you want a relationship with someone that doesn’t quite have the same views as you. Maybe there’s a job you’ve been wanting for quite some time but you just can’t seem to get it. Instead of fighting for those personal wants, you should let God take complete control over your life. Not only does this help you to fix your eyes on Him, but it also takes so much stress off of your shoulders.

Just let go and let God.

I know for me, that it was hard trying to figure out what God was calling me to do with my life. I’m the type of person who loves being in control and when listening for God’s call, that was something I had to let go of. As soon as I let go, God began to slowly reveal pieces of my call to me. I also know I’m not the only one who has experienced the internal struggle of wanting to do life my way, but not knowing how to also live my life for Christ. God showed me that:

1. I need to stop worrying about where  I am going in life and focus on the here-and-now,

2. The most important relationship you will ever have is the relationship you have with God,

3. The transitions in life that I spend worrying about are in God’s hands; He knows the plans He has for you, and

4. Everything happens according to His Will, which may mean waiting for weeks, months, or even years to hear what He has to say.

Knowing that everything goes according to His Will, you should be open to whatever comes your way. You may struggle with things he sends in your direction but He knows you have the ability to get through those things when you have fully placed your trust in Him. Maybe you’re struggling with feeling like you don’t fit in. Maybe there’s a relationship that you’ve lost with a friend. I’m letting you know that you are strong enough, with His help, to get through whatever you’re struggling with.

Proverbs 16:9

The mind of man plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps.

For some of us, God’s call changes right when we seem to get comfortable. Life happens and we may need to re-evaluate our decisions, relationships we’re in, etc.

So whatever you do, do it with God. He wants to see you step out on faith and depend on Him.

When you finally find that “needle” it still may only be a small piece of the puzzle! God’s call for your life isn’t something that He reveals to you all at once. It’s almost like a breadcrumb trail leading you out of the woods.

Even though I have had the chance to hear pieces of God’s plan for me now, those might change and I could be in a totally different place, in a few years, months, etc., then I am in today.

God’s call for your life is a constant mystery. It’s like a kaleidoscope that can change over the years.

My point is that, yes I’ve heard pieces of my call and I am living them out, but I still don’t know His full plan for me. I will keep on this course until I hear otherwise from Him and I will go with the peace of the Lord in me.

So cry out and ask God to reveal your calling to you, it may take a while but if you are patient you’ll see what He has in store. May the peace of God take root in your heart and your trust be rooted in the Lord.

Colossians 3:15

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.
